Glycerin is great for over activated slimes that are too tough or even slimes that are getting a little old and drying out. It is also recommended to be used with clear slimes as it won't make the slime foggy like lotion does. 

Just add a few drops at a time to slowly melt down the slime until you reach your desired texture.
